Recommended Brand & 4 Size Options (Softeners by Gemline)
Gemline demand-metered softeners regenerate only when needed, saving salt and water. We size your system using our FREE on-site water test (hardness, TDS) plus home size, people, bathrooms, and simultaneous water use.
1) Gemline 32k (≈1.0 cu ft)
Best for: condos/townhomes or smaller single-family
Typical household: 1–3 people • 1–2 baths
Hardness range: up to ~10–20 gpg (municipal)
Service flow: ~8–10 gpm (light simultaneous use)
Notes: Efficient entry size; great when space is tight.
2) Gemline 48k (≈1.5 cu ft) — Most Common
Best for: mid-size homes (our frequent pick)
Typical household: 3–5 people • 2–3 baths
Hardness range: ~15–35 gpg
Service flow: ~10–12 gpm (normal simultaneous use)
Example model: GLWS48
Notes: Strong balance of capacity, efficiency, and peak flow.
3) Gemline 64k (≈2.0 cu ft)
Best for: larger homes or higher hardness
Typical household: 5–7 people • 3–4 baths
Hardness range: ~30–45 gpg
Service flow: ~12–14 gpm (multiple fixtures at once)
Notes: Fewer regenerations under heavier demand.
4) Gemline 80–96k (≈2.5–3.0 cu ft)
Best for: very large homes, high hardness, or many simultaneous fixtures
Typical household: 6–10+ people • 4–6+ baths
Hardness range: ~40–60+ gpg
Service flow: ~14–18 gpm (high peak demand)
Notes: Considered when hardness is extreme or pressure drop must be minimized.
How We Right-Size Your Softener
- Grains/day estimate: hardness (gpg) × ~75–80 gal/person/day × occupants
- Factor in bathrooms, fixture count, and peak-flow needs (showers/laundry/dishwasher running together).
- Review plumbing layout and future plans (add-ons, expansions).
Important: If your water has iron, manganese, or sediment (common on wells), we may recommend pre-treatment (e.g., iron or carbon filtration). Proper pre-treatment protects the softener’s resin and maintains performance.
Next step: Book your Free Service Call + FREE on-site water test. We’ll confirm hardness, size the right Gemline model, and give you written, no-pressure options.
